Charging hourly is no longer my preferred method of billing, for reasons I outline in my post How to Charge Your Freelance Clients. That post also includes an excellent freelance rate calculator that can help you determine your MAR - Minimum Acceptable Rate. If you're still billing hourly I encourage to read that post and make sure you're earning enough with the help of the calculator.
That being said, there are definitely times when billing hourly is more appropriate, especially for smaller or quick projects. And I can't tell you how many times I've googled the question "Can I bill for...." when I started freelancing, so to help you guys out, I put together a comprehensive "can and can't" list to use as a reference.
I'm interested to hear what other people's thoughts are. Share in the comments, please. And don't forget to check out the post on How to Charge Your Freelance Clients and grab the rate calculator over here >>
